I really wouldn’t have to worry about a guestbook (which would probably just sit in my closet anyways) at least this is something that can be put on display!! I’d put our engagement picture in it (which still needs to be taken) and then after the wedding maybe put a wedding picture of us in it!

I will be setting up the shot of us myself. Granted I’ll have to use a timer or just have my mom or brother push the button, but I’m not shelling out extra money to get a professional engagement shot taken when I have the ability to do it myself. I’ll just have Dom pose with my mom or my buddy Ashley, adjust the camera accordingly and then I’ll jump in place.

These are inexpensive, and really cute http://www.favorideas.com/shopping/prod/AT8411-3300.htm , although I wouldn’t use them as the “main” center piece, just as little accents.

I absolutely love this idea, I could glue on the twigs myself and add acorns/pinecones, dried berries, etc. I love the dried leaf on the table as well, so I can see my self defiantly using something to this effect http://www.beau-coup.com/twig_votive.htm

Not only does it smell wonderful, It is natural so there really wouldn’t have to be too much clean up involved.

I’m just full of tons of ideas, aren’t I? You’d think the wedding was a month away the way I’m going crazy with all these decorations!!

I was thinking just using huge walmart candles (or wherever I can find them cheapest at) on the tables as a centerpiece, and around the base will be leaves and acorns, flowers, bows, glitter and such. We could use the same flowers/bows, etc around the candles that go on the church pews, we can just have someone quick take them off and then put them on the reception tables to save money. Plus everyone likes candles, and If we are stuck with them after the wedding it is something we can use (unlike tons of dead flowers, tons of glass bowls, and other random things people use as centerpieces).

Favors

Omg I typed in “fall wedding favors” into google and got like a bazillion search results!!! Favors are a hard decision because I think I love everything I found so far. I have tried to narrow it down though.

I really like the candle idea with our names on them, http://www.favorideas.com/shopping/prod/CH-016.htm but as Jen said, they don’t really appeal to guys as much as they do girls. Plus I was thinking you just burn candles away anyways… Kind of like how the napkin-with your names on them- are totally cute, but what’s the point? People are just gonna wipe their month with them and throw them away anyways?

Not only are they sharp and eye catching, they would appeal to both guys and girls. Plus little tins are re useable for all sorts of things!! Invitations

Because I tend to be artistic and creative, I just can’t stand the thought of sending out store-bought invitations. I am quite fond of that glittery embossed font on store bought invitations though.

I want to make my own, but I am sure that can be just as pricy as buying them once you figure in the cost of the paper, tissue paper, ink, envelopes, reception card, and return response card, etc.

I haven’t looked too far into the invitations, because it’s really early yet. For certain, I am going to make a couple of different cards just to see how cute they look. If I can come up with a design that doesn’t look too tacky and is inexpensive, I’d like to make my own!! If all else fails, I’ll keep a cheap, store-bought invitation as a back up plan.

I doubt I’d buy these http://www.favorideas.com/shopping/prod/KKM_callalily.htm But I am quite fond of the idea! They do match one of the wedding favors I like, so that would be cute to have them match, but I really don’t want a “calla lily” invitation. I think it might be weird to send these out saying “invitation will follow” and not have the invitation match the “save the date” card. I’m very picky, In case you haven’t noticed, lol. Chances are if I make my own invitations, I’ll have a “save the date” card designed (by me of course) to match!

Flowers

Even though the wedding isn’t for another year and 7 months, I am already starting to pick some simple things out. I would like to get all the hard work out of the way so we aren’t stressed out at the last minute!

I have lots of ideas for flowers, I love lilies, particularly tiger lilies and calla lilies. I love roses too, and sunflowers. Gebra Daisies, sprigs of pussy willows, cattyninetails, dried berries, Heck, I just love ALL flowers and flowery things!!!! I love almost all of the bouquets on this website:

I've decided to take alot of
"website" advice and start a small wedding journal,
just because I can. :o)

3/3/07
Dominic finally proposed, what a great end to a bad
day...Though I worked at Lisi's from 6am-2, we had
plans to go out to eat and see a movie (for our
belated anniversary date). First of all, trying to
get me to do ANYTHING after working saturday morning
is a chore in itself, cause I'm always tired, fat,
bloated and grouchy. It really was a bad week, maybe I
should start with what started the "badness" of it all...or
something like that.

Our anniversary was on the 27th, and because Dominic
was home all day long I was sort of expecting/hoping
to hear from him via text message. The end of the day
came and went, as did my 5:15 ritual phone call to
him. I thought "oh maybe he'll say 'happy anniv' when
we say good bye" but to my dissappointment, he didn't
:( Like a typical woman, I got to his house and
briefly looked around for some sort of hint that he
acknowledged the day. But no luck. Even after our
netflix movie, I thought he just HAD! to remember by
the time I left. But do you think he did? lol. As I
went out the door I was just like "oh, yeah, HAPPY
ANNIVERSARY!" I got the "oh shit, let's quick say
happy anniv. back and be all smooth-like" look. lol. I
gave him the puppy dog eyed - pout, headed for my car,
and didn't look back. Got in my car, and the tears
started, oh joy. Even though it was typical for him
to forget something like an anniversary, I sat there
for a minute, thinking maybe he'd come back out and
try to reason with me, but, nope (typical...I think
that's my new favorite word). Men never learn that
when they upset a woman they are suppose to go after
them. We pretend that if they come after us it pisses
us off even more, but in reality coming after us is
the right thing to do. I say "us" as in women, but
then again I don't really know. At least that is how I
work. So that's how my bad week started.
I did though, get a rose the 28th, a day late. Which
I must say was sweet, but still!!
Anyways,
Add the grumpiness and tiredness to being on your feet
all day at work, and then go out to a movie, only to
find that you have to stand in line for 20 mins to buy
a ticket (there are like 500 booths and only 2 are
open) then the popcorn line is worse, so we get into
the movie, previews have already started and most the
seats were full. We got seats like 3 rows back from
the front smack dab in the middle, so I felt like I
had to move my head back and forth like a damn
typewriter the whole time to see what was going on.
Sounds wonderful, doesn't it? The movie wasn't half
bad (Ghost Rider, with Nicholas Cage) although some
proportions in the artwork were way off. I am such a
critic. I notice one flaw and it distracts me the
whole movie. See how easily I get sidetracked? hehe.

After the movie we planned to go to the olive garden.
We were both starving. Go figure, there was a 90
minute wait, and neither of us had the patience to
wait, so Dom knew of a little truckstop we haven't
tried yet, so I agreed to go there. We like
truckstops. He got eggplant parm. and I got roasted
turkey. His was good, mine was disgusting. Even Dom
didn't like it (and he eats everything)so at this
point all I could really do was laugh, eat the
biscuits with butter and laugh. There was a coupla
times I threw weird hints at him like, "i don't know
what to do with you" kind of hints. I really really
really really wanted to talk about "us" and where our
relationship was going, and tell him that he had x
number of days to propose or else I was leaving. I
wasn't goin to stick around forever. 8 years is a
long time to not have any sort of commitment. BUT, I
didn't. I just didn't have enough energy to pick a
fight with him lol.
There was a lunar eclipse earlier in the evening, and
luckily we got to catch the very tail end of the
shadow on the moon. Aterwards, the sky was crystal
clear, the moon full and bright in the sky. The ride
home I kind of felt detached, losing myself while
staring at the moon. It was really beautiful, I just
couldn't take my eyes off of it. Even as clouds
started to roll in, the moon light gave them such a
beautiful glow.
We pulled in the driveway, and I remember saying
something to dom about the coke glasses we stole ( we
didn't really steal them, just gave them a good home
and protected them from gettin smashed by the
neighbor's kids) from up in the old bar we use to
party at when we were "kids" and that's when he told
me one of the cats broke one of the glasses. He was
kinda fidgety, and I saw him reaching for his pocket.
Kind of feeling around, and he said "I can't find my
pocket" so I kind of got a little perk of hope. But,
lol, he pulls out his cell phone. Then he got this
fake kind of excited tone of voice and was like "oh
hey, let's go up in the bar, I want to show you
something." You see, A long time ago one of our friends t
alked us into taking this tiny pill (ecstasy). Yeah, stupid move,
but let me tell ya I never had so much fun in my entire life, hehe.
so yes, we were all drugged up and
I told him I wanted him to marry me, and he told me he
didn't have a ring lol, but he kinda asked me anyways.
We were so young, we just let it slide. Plus, like I
said, we were really drugged up, so we didn't think
much of it. So of course, when he said "let's go up into the
old bar, I want to show you something," THAT'S when I totatly
thought I knew. Why else would me make me go up there?
I was like "no I'm tired, I'm going inside, leave me
alone" because for all I knew he wanted to show me
something stupid. and he's like "come onnnnn" so I
kind of made him drag me.

As we entered the bar, that familiar smell surrounded
us. He tried the light switch and It didn't work, and
I was freezing!! We were just standing there, kind of
looking around. I think I remember saying "
sooooooooo what do you wana show me " and I don't
remember if he didn't say anything? I really don't
know, it's kind of a blur. I remember things
happening, but I don't know in what order. I remember
saying that I was gonna go, but I don't remember if it
was before or after he spoke. I don't know if I imagined this part,
or if he really said it. He said "I haven't been
completely honest with you, there has been another
woman in my life" So I was all like, silently, wtf is he proposing or
breaking up with me? For a second, I seriously didn't
know. I know he said "The beauty of another woman has
caught my eye" and I said "who?" It was dark, so I
couldn't see his expression, but he "looked" really
serious. After a pause of what seemend like forever,
he said "A reflection of you wearing this ring" as he
got down on one knee and asked if I'd marry him. It
was so dark so he kept flicking his lighter on and it
kept going out. He was sooo nervous, teehee!! And I
could sooooo tell, I couldn't help but let out a
giggle and give him a hug all at once as I stooped
down to whisper yes in his right ear. He was still
holding the ring, probably because I attacked him with
a hug before I let him put it on my finger. So as he
was standing up I was kind of poking my little left
ring finger at the ring, like PUT IT ON ME DAMN IT LET
ME SEEEEEEE *laughs*

So there you have it, my engagement story!!!!
Sounds so romantic, does it not? *sarcasm* but if you know
me and Dom, we find humor and amusement in the
tiny, simple things in life, that most people ignore.
I must say, even though it wasn't the most romantic,
fairy tale proposal, at least he thought to ask me up there
because of what happend like 5 years ago. He said he wanted
to ask me at the beach, or somewhere pretty and romantic during the fall,
but he was staring at the ring every day for two weeks
and just couldn't hold out any longer!! Plus he knew that I was upset
because he "forgot" the day of our actual anniversary.
I think he really did feel bad though, the poor guy was just a day off!
He always has some sort of bad timing, so I suppose
that's why it's funny. Because I can pick on him and he knows
that I know that he always forgets, etc.
We sure do make quite a couple, *laughs*
